Bank manager held for Rs 5 crore fraud
Jabalpur: At least Rs 5 crore were swindled by issuing business loans during Covid-19 times by the manager of a public sector bank with the help of accomplices. Jabalpur crime branch as well as economic offences wing (EOW) has registered cases in separate crimes against the accused manager and accomplices. Crime branch arrested the manager on Friday.
DSP crime, Sushil Kumar Chouhan said, “Kamal Mishra posted as a manager at Union Bank’s Vijay Nagar branch had issued business loans in name of 15 people during Covid-19 times. The total amount was around Rs 3.25 crore. People on whose names, these loans were issued, only came to know when bank issued recovery notices as loan was not paid. They made complaints of fraud and a case was registered. During the investigations, it surfaced that the accused had issued loans in their names and transferred the money in the account of accomplices, with the help of agents like Suresh Manchani and Mahesh Manchani and others. They had swindled the entire loan amount. More such complaints are being received. The accused manager has been arrested and detailed investigations are being carried out”.
Meanwhile in a separate case EOW has also registered a case against the branch manager along with his brother-in-law Priyank Tiwari, agent Sanjay Patel and others. The accused manager with the help of accomplices, issued loan in the name of at least 15 people and swindled around Rs 1.75 crore, more people are approaching EOW, said sources.
