: In a thrilling contest,
Arjun Kadhe
won the singles title of the 15,000 dollars ITF tournament at Arera Club on Sunday. He defeated second seeded
Sidhharth Rawat
in straight sets, 7-6 and 6-4.
Sidhharth won the toss but he chose to receive the serve first. The first set saw some very good tennis shots from both players and a very close contest between the two players. Although the serves were broken for both, the two players kept equalising the sets and reached a score of 6-6.
In the tie break, however,
Arjun took the lead from the beginning and was at 5-2.
Rawat
tried to fight back, but Arjun prevailed upon him.
In the second set, Arjun broke the serve of Rawat right in the beginning.
At one stage, he was leading 2-0, but then Rawat broke Arjun’s serve and equalised the game 2-2.
They were at 4-4, when Arjun again broke the serve of Rawat and took the lead and after that he won his own service game to win the second set 6-4.
The prize distribution was done by the special invitees retired Anita Das and General Secretary, All India Tennis Association Anil Dhuper. Both players appreciated the arrangements, hospitality of the organising committee and the facilities available at the Arera Club. He said it was a world-class event.
