Anganwadi to be built on land gifted by farmer: Govt tells HC

Bhopal/Jabalpur: The state government told a division bench of MP high court that an anganwadi centre would be constructed on the land received as donation from a tribal farmer in Barwani district within three months.
Chief justice of MP high court had taken up the matter as a suo motu public interest litigation (PIL) following publication of a news item in TOI that despite a tribal farmer from village Kalalada in Barwani district donating a portion of his landholding for construction of an anganwadi centre two-and-a half years ago, the anganwadi centre has not come up on the land. The role of local officials had been questioned in the report.
The division bench of chief justice R V Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra had issued notices to chief secretary of the state government, collector Barwani and CEO, district panchayat, Barwani in the matter.
During hearing of the case, the court was informed on behalf of the state government that the construction work of anganwadi centre would be completed by the month of August. Following this, the court deferred hearing in the case till August 31.
