Agriculture official dies dousing flames at home

Bhopal: A 55-year-old engineer, posted as deputy director in the directorate of agricultural engineering, died of suffocation and burn injuries while dousing fire at his home in a posh colony in Bag Sewania on Wednesday night. A major fire had erupted on the first floor of his home due to a short circuit. His wife and daughter stayed out of the house while he went inside trying to douse the flames and died of suffocation and burn injuries. He was rushed to hospital in an unconscious state where he was declared brought dead. Bag Sewania police registered a case and started investigations.
Investigation officer ASI Bhupendra Pathak said that Anil Porwal was posted as deputy director in the directorate of agricultural engineering department. He lived with his wife and daughter at Pebble Bay Colony in Bag Sewania. Around 10.30pm on Wednesday, he saw smoke billowing out from the first floor of his home. He went inside along with others and came down. Fire brigade was called. Meanwhile, Porwal once again went upstairs without telling anybody and tried to go to the terrace through the room on fire. However, he fell unconscious near the stairs.
ASI Pathak said that fire brigade reached the spot and doused the fire. The firemen found him lying unconscious with severe burn injuries. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was suffocated by the smoke and suffered severe burns on face and body. Police registered a case and started investigations.
