BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh agriculture minister
Kamal Patel on Saturday said the three agriculture laws may be back again. In a surprise move, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on November 19 had announced on national television about repealing the three agriculture laws in the upcoming session of Parliament. Prior to this, BJP leaders had been lauding the laws and listing out their benefits.
Patel said that the three agriculture laws might be brought back again. He said that the government had failed to explain a section of the people and "it's our collective failure".
Talking to the media in Gwalior, Patel said, "We failed to explain the benefits of the laws to a few farmers and we decided to repeal the laws. But once after explaining the benefits of the agri reform laws, we can successfully pass them once again".
Soon after Modi's announcement on Friday, Patel had said, "
Punjab,
Haryana and Uttar Pradesh farmers and some kisan organistions provoked other farmers and that is why we were not able to explain their benefits to the farmers. And that is why PM Modi apologised, while withdrawing the laws as he always believes in 'sabka saath sabka vikas'."
Reacting to the latest remark of the state agriculture minister, the general secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Anil Yadav said, "This is the true face of the saffron party and minister Kamal Patel had revealed the plan. In any case, the farmers' agitation is continuing till the three laws are repealed through a proper constitutional process in the Parliament".
