Bhopal
: After two years, Bhopalis will once again drench themselves in colours on Tuesday to celebrate
Rang Panchami
festival. With the Covid-19 situation getting under control, the markets are flooded with sparkling colours — organic or otherwise.
As usual, there will be a local holiday on the occasion.
Adding to the enthusiasm of the people to celebrate Rang Panchami in an uninhibited manner, is the news that no new cases of Coronavirus were found in the district on Sunday for the first time in the year 2022.
“Rang Panchami is celebrated in Bhopal with as much enthusiasm as Holi. Of course, you don’t have a procession on the scale of ‘Gair’ in Indore, a procession is taken out in Bhopal wherein people play colours much in the same way as Holi. We are looking forward to having fun this Rang Panchami after a gap of two years,” said
Sunil Thakur, a resident of Kolar area.
President of Hindu Utsav Samiti, Kailash Begwani, said that the Rang Panchami procession will begin from Subhash Chown and pass through Loha Bazaar, Jumerati, Janakpuri,
Sindhi Market
, Somwara, Bhawani Chowk, Lakherapura, Chowk, Itwara, Transport Road, Mangalwara, Ghora Nakkas and culminate at Hanumanganj.
Traditional drink — thandai made with bhang and dry fruits — is served on the occasion and people work through the night to grind the mixtures in the right proportion.
