Academic session delay keeps students on tenterhooks
Bhopal: Ongoing lockdown due to corona virus scare has put the next academic session in trouble. Higher education department officials said it will not be possible for them to start session this year from July 1. Officials said that they are clueless as even board exams are yet to be completed.
Every year higher education announces the admission after the board exam results are declared by the first week of May. As there is uncertainty students are worried that they will not get proper time to complete their course.
"What to say about taking admission in college when even class 12 exams are not finished. I am in high stress about both my board exams and further studies," said Pulkit Sharma, a student.
Another student said, "Colleges and universities have also postponed their exams. I don’t know when my second year classes will start."
Even teaching faculty are also worried as what will happen after the lockdown period is over. "Entire academic has been shut. This is a situation which will have very bad impacts in the long run. Students are really scared about their future," said a teaching faculty of Bhopal-based engineering college.
Engineering colleges which have been facing poor admission scenario are worried that this year they may get even lesser number of students compared to the last few years. "It is possible that admission process in IIT and state engineering colleges may clash. Once the student moves out of the state there are possibilities that they will take admission in other states as the admission process may be delayed in the state. Different states have different academic calendars," said Ankit Soni, another student.
When contacted university officials on the condition of anonymity admitted that academic session will get delayed and it will impact students on a large scale.
