8 MBBS students of Jabalpur medical college suspended for ragging junior in hostel

JABALPUR: Eight MBBS students of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, were suspended for six months for allegedly ragging a first-year student, a senior official said on Saturday.The incident occurred two days ago in Hostel number 1, where the victim was staying, Dean Dr Navneet Saxena told PTI."After the victim lodged a complaint, the college's anti-ragging committee conducted an inquiry and found the allegations to be correct. Based on the committee's findings and in accordance with National Medical Commission norms, the college management initiated disciplinary action against the students," Dr Saxena said.Third-year MBBS students Navdeep Chaudhary, Prakash Bawariya, Vikram Singh Meena, Dharmendra Kushwah, Keshav Gautam, Sudip Jaiswal, Navneet Kushwah and Ravi Meena were expelled from the hostel, suspended from the college for six months, and fined Rs 10,000 each, he said."The college has adopted a strict stance against ragging. It will not tolerate any such activity on the campus or in hostels. Action would be taken against those found guilty as per rules," he asserted. (With agency inputs)
