BHOPAL: Local court on Wednesday acquitted seven people, who were accused of forcing a property dealer Jai Prakash Singh to commit suicide, after shooting his 5-year-old son in the city in November 2009.
Besides, the seven who were arrested and acquitted by the court, two other accused including liquor baron Vinay Kedia are still on the run and a reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced on him.
Court of additional district judge B B Shukla, acquitted Shaukat Ali, Mohammed Kamran, Naveen Patel, Neeraj Singh Pawar, Shailendra Kadam, Kumar Dheerendra and Chuttan Prasad Shrivastav due to lack of evidence.
Jai Prakash Singh had shot his son before killing himself at his farmhouse near Hataikheda on November 3, 2009. Nine people, including Kedia were booked on the basis of a note left behind by Singh. Singh, in his suicide note, alleged a builder and an Indore-based liquor manufacturer were pressuring him to sell the farmhouse. His brother corroborated contents of the suicide note.
