68-yr-old attempts suicide over family dispute, saved by divers

Bhopal: A 68-year-old man allegedly attempted to die by suicide by jumping into the Upper Lake near VIP Road in Talaiya on Saturday afternoon. However, before he could jump, divers Mazhar Khan and Sheikh Asif, from the municipal corporation, intervened and stopped him. A suicide note was also found with the elderly man, in which he wrote that he was taking this step due to distress caused by his wife and younger son. After counselling him, the police handed him over to his family. Police said the 68-year-old man, a resident of Neelbad, had reached VIP Road on Saturday afternoon. He attempted to climb the railing to jump into the lake. Sensing the seriousness of the situation, divers stopped him.Despite being restrained, the man continued to express his intent to jump. Upon receiving the information, Dial 112 FRV arrived and took him to the Talaiya police station.
