Ujjain: Local police on Wednesday arrested a group of six persons for allegedly kidnapping a Kanpur-based man, who had duped Crores of rupees from the people of his city in
Uttar Pradesh before settling down in Ujjain with his family.
The ‘kidnappers’ took the law into their hands in an attempt to recover their investment, Ujjain police said, adding that the cops on alert however foiled their attempt to take the alleged ‘conman’ with them back to Kanpur.
According to local police officials, one Navneet s/o Brijesh Shrivastava of Kanpur had around two-and-a-half months back taken a house on rent in Ujjain’s Tirupati Dham Colony under Chimanganj area and had started living there with his family.
“It’s after all the six persons including
Shivam Tiwari, Prabhat Mishra, Kishore Kotwani, KC Nand Pandey, Alok Sachan and Ajeet Singh of Uttar Pradesh, whom the ‘Conman’ had allegedly duped in name of investment in Crypto Currency by promising high return, came to know about Shrivastava’s location, they reached the spot late on Tuesday night, thrashed him before throwing him in a four-wheeler they had come with to take him back to Kanpur for recovery of their money” senior police officials said.
Based on Shrivastava’s father's complaint about ‘kidnapping’ of his son, a team from Chimanganj police station activated its network and managed to stop the vehicle with help of Rajgarh police. “A case under section 365 of IPC has been registered against all six persons while further investigation was on” ASP Ujjain Indrajeet Bakalwar said.Meanwhile, Ujjain police have also informed Shrivastava to their counterpart in Kanpur.
