BHOPAL: In a hit and run incident reported in Misrod locality on Friday night, a speeding unidentified car running in the BRTS corridor on Hoshangabad Road, allegedly hit a couple crossing the BRTS corridor in front of Ashima Mall on Friday night and fled the spot.
Hit by the car, the couple sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital where the 55-year-old woman died while her 60-year-old husband is undergoing treatment.
His condition is said to be critical.
Misrod police said that a case has been registered.
Investigation officer head constable Arjun Singh said that the deceased Krishna Bai, a resident of Bagmugalia in Bag Sewania, was a homemaker. She along with her husband Rajaram, had gone to visit a relative in Baktara in Sehore district to attend a function. The couple were returning home on Friday night. They alighted from a bus in front of Ashima Mall on Hoshangabad around 8pm and were walking down towards their home when the speeding car coming from Mandideep side hit them and fled the spot. Krishna was thrown around 10 metres away.
Locals rushed the couple to AIIMS where Krishna died a few minutes later while Rajaram is undergoing treatment.
SHO Misrod RB Sharma said that police were scanning the footage of CCTV at the spot to identify the errant vehicle.
