Bhopal: A scooter-borne property broker and his brother were allegedly waylaid by unidentified miscreants riding on two scooters on Smart City Road in the Shyamla Hills area and robbed of cash worth Rs 55.05 lakh at knifepoint at night on March 7. Acting on the victim's complaint, Shyamla Hills police on Sunday registered a case against unidentified accused and launched a manhunt to nab them. Police are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras fitted in the area.
Additional DCP (Zone- 3) Shalini Dixit said that the complainant, Divyang Barot, 25, a resident of the Chunabhatti area, is a property broker. He informed police that he was returning after collecting the cash related to his work from the Old City area on Saturday night with his brother on a scooter.
As they were travelling on Smart City Road at around 9.30 pm, unidentified miscreants riding on 2 scooters intercepted them. Barot resisted when they tried to snatch the bag containing the cash. However, one of them whipped out a knife and threatened him. The miscreants then took away the bag and fled the spot.
Additional DCP Dixit said that, acting on information received at Shyamla Hills police station on Sunday, police registered a case against unidentified accused and started investigations. Teams launched a search operation, but the accused could not be traced. A case was registered, and CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene are being examined to identify the accused. Ten special team were formed to track the suspects and collect information about possible escape routes. some leads have been found, and investivations are underway to track them, she added.
