Bhopal: 33-year-old widow raped, cheated by kin

BHOPAL: A 33-year-old widow was allegedly raped by her husband’s cousin on the pretext of marriage for around a year in Misrod locality. The accused even took Rs 3-4 lakh from the woman fraudulently, which she had received as compensation from her husband’s company after his death.
SHO Misrod RB Sharma said that the survivor, 33, a resident of Misrod, lost her husband in 2018 due to some disease.The couple have two children.
After her husband’s death she received his funds from his company. The accused, who happens to be her husband’s cousin came to Bhopal after her husband’s death.
He lured her into his trap promising to marry her and exploited her physically. He even took Rs 3-4 lakh from her. Later, he refused to marry her and left the city.
He also threatened her not to report the matter to police, else he would kill her children.
When the accused did not return despite counselling, the woman reported the matter to Misrod police.
Acting on the woman’s complaint, a case was registered and further investigation is going on, said police.
