BHOPAL: Three migrant workers were killed and 12 others injured after an overcrowded bus overturned near Dabra in Gwalior district on Tuesday morning.

from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi.



The injured persons were admitted to a government hospital in Gwalior.

Superintendent of police (SP) Amit Sanghi said there were more than 100 passengers in the bus. There were many children aboard.

Tikaram Ahirwar, a passenger on the bus, after the lockdown was imposed in Delhi he wanted to move out for a longer period.

"Last year also we suffered a lot when we had to walk all the way. Similar conditions have developed again,” he said.

An eyewitness said that some villagers were also sitting on the rooftop of the bus.

The deceased include Mukesh Dhimar (27), Matadin Ahirwar (40) and Jitendra Aahirwar (22) from Timakgarh district.

Jorasi Ghati is an accident prone area and the driver lost control of the overcrowded bus while negotiating a sharp turn, police said.

Both the driver and conductor of the bus are absconding.
