BHOPAL: Three students of People's College of Medical Sciences & Research Centre were arrested for allegedly assaulting a junior for months at institute’s hostel in a suspected case of ragging.
A case was registered at Nishatpura police station for voluntary causing hurt and other sections of IPC on Tuesday after the victim posted a complaint on University Grants Commission (UGC) anti-ragging helpline.
The accused have been identified as Arnav Bhatnagar, Abhinav Sharma and Vivek Dwivedi. They were arrested and released from police station since it was a bailable offence, police said.
The victim, a first year student, in his compliant said the trio thrashed him forced him to consume liquor, made his video when he got inebriated and threatened to make it public. He said it was affecting his studies and he could even take the extreme step. He urged authorities to consider his complaint as the suicide note.
Police officials said they asked college authorities to take strict action against the accused since the incident took place at college hostel.
