BHOPAL: A district court on Monday sentenced three people including a Pakistani national to 10-years of imprisonment for passing on defence-related information to Pakistan through e-mail.
The court of additional district judge B K Dwivedi sentenced Imran Quereshi, 36, son of Mohammed Akhtar Warsi, a resident of Karachi, Pakistan along with Iqbal Quereshi, 48, son of Abdul Majid and Akhtar Baigh,34, son of Sheikh Kallu both residents of Moti Nagar in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.
All three were arrested by Bhopal crime branch on February 19, 2008 from the house of a local resident Sultan Miyan in Cantonment area Bairagarh.
The chargesheet said that Imran used to pass on information to people in Pakistan through e-mail which included pictures of the army buildings and localities. The email ids ajay3020000@yahoo.co.in, having a password 166116661 and rajshaker811@yahoo.com, having a password style+2live, were used by the accused for sending the information, said sources.
Indian nationals who were arrested helped the accused to get forged residential proofs and other documents, added sources.
On February 19, 2008, Mangalwara police station of the city had information that a Pakistani national along with two Indians were sending information about cantonment area Bairagarh to Pakistan. Following the information crime branch led by then DSP Nimisha Pandey raided the premises and arrested all accused, said sources.
