27-year-old raped by relative in hotel

Bhopal: A 27-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her 20-year-old nephew at a hotel in Govindpura in August 2022. For the past few days, when the accused started pressuring the survivor to enter into a sexual relationship, she finally gathered courage and revealed the incident to her family members. Subsequently, she approached Govindpura police station on Tuesday to lodge a complaint. Police said that the survivor, a resident of Piplani, works at a private firm. In her complaint to police, she stated that in 2016, the accused nephew along with his family members had come to stay at a rented flat close to her home in Govindpura. Police said that the survivor further alleged that in August 2022, the accused approached the survivor outside her office and took her to a hotel in Govindpura, where he allegedly raped her threatening her with dire consequences. Police said that since then he was repeatedly raping her but for the past few days when the survivor maintained distance from him, the accused started pressurising her to continue their sexual relationship. Fed-up of harassment, the woman revealed the incident and approached Govindpura police. A rape case was registered and further investigations are underway. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the survivor.
