Bhopal: A 26-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself at her rented home in Kolar on Wednesday. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
It was revealed that woman wanted to go to her native town Gadarwara to complete the EKYC process for ‘Ladli Bahna Yojana’. However, her husband sought time citing brother's engagement scheduled to be held in the evening on the same day.
It was found that the couple married after a love affair in 2017 but the woman regretted her step, assuming that her husband had stopped taking her words seriously.
Investigating officer ASI Preetam Singh said that the deceased,
Pooja Verma, was a native of Gadarwara. She married Laxmikant Verma, a resident of her native town, after a love affair. The couple shifted to Kolar in a rented flat after marriage and have a 3-year-old daughter. Laxmikant runs a pan-kiosk in the locality.
ASI Singh said that on Wednesday around 11 am, when Laxmikant had gone out,
Pooja called him on the pretext of some work. When he was about to reach home, she asked her daughter to stand outside and inform her as soon as the kid spots Laxmikant returning. As her daughter informed her, she locked the door from inside. By the time, Laxmikant could open the door with the help of neighbours, she had hanged herself.
The ASI said that Laxmikant and the neighbours rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where she was declared dead. A case was registered at Kolar police station.
