Bhopal: Two college students were shot on Saturday night in Katara Hills for objecting to loud music.
They remained hospitalised in critical condition, while police registered a case of murderous assault against three accused, who too are students.
Police said the complainant, Hemant, said he is a first-year college student.
On Saturday night, he and his senior Vasu went to the parking area of the multi-storey building of their colony to meet with their friends who had raised the objection. Soon after, the accused came down to the parking area.
One of the accused asked, "Who among you objected?" Before they could respond, he pulled out a pistol and opened fire. Vasu was hit by a bullet and ran to save his life. Police said two of their friends, Harish and Anshutej managed to save their lives by hiding behind pillars. The three accused fled on a bike after giving death threats to the victims.
Anshutej was also hit by a bullet. On the way to hospital, the injured told them that earlier that night, after having dinner with friends, they were going to sleep in their room. But loud noises from the next room kept them from sleeping.
When they went there to object, the accused first abused them and then told them to wait for 10 minutes. .
After that, they came downstairs, and shortly afterward the accused arrived and shot at them, cops said.
