2 online betting rackets busted in 24 hrs, 9 held

Bhopal: Crime Branch busted two online betting rackets in the past 24 hours with the arrest of nine people. Additional DCP Shailendra Singh Chouhan said, police received a tip off about people placing online bets on IPL matches at Siddharth Tower in Lalita Nagar, Kolar. A special team raided the spot and nabbed six accused. All of them hail from Dabra, Gwalior and had come to Bhopal for betting purposes. The six accused were identified as — Shahnawaz (28), Hariom Gupta (26), Salman Khan (25), Chhotu Khan (24), Naresh Goswani (23) and Aman Beg 22. Police seized Rs 24,500 and five mobile phones from them. Meanwhile, Crime Branch raided Lalghati area and arrested three when they were placing online bets.Police seized goods worth Rs 2.1 lakh including cash and mobile phones from them. The accused were identified as Aditya Prakash alias Adi (29), Latish Khushlani (26) and Navin Phoolchandani (34). During the raids, two bookies identified as Karan and Nishant Yadav managed to run away and search was on to nab them.
