More than 1,200 students would be awarded degrees at the 10th convocation of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) to be held on August 31 at the sports complex of the institute.

BHOPAL: More than 1,200 students would be awarded degrees at the 10th convocation of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) to be held on August 31 at the sports complex of the institute. Besides the installation ceremony of the new students' council would also be held on the occasion.
About 1,273 students would be awarded degrees in which 38 PhD students, 234 M Tech and remaining undergraduate students will be awarded, director Dr Appu Kuttan informed at a press conference here on Tuesday.

This year selection committee for the students' council included last year's student council members along with dean (student's welfare) and coordinator. Dr V K Sarasvat, principal technical advisor to Prime Minister, ex-director of DRDO, Hyderabad and chairman of the Combustion Institute of India would be the chief guest.
Dress code for the student and senators would be the same as the 9th convocation i.e. Gandhi cap. 72 senators along with professor G K Mehta, chairman, BOG would award the degrees.
The undergraduate students will be awarded gold and silver medals. This year one gold medal has been introduced for the top undergraduate student of the institute.
The director also announced new degree and diploma courses and a new, fully digital library on the offing. The new and fully digital library would be built on funds of Rs 3.5 crore and would have a capacity for 250 students. It will also be one of the best libraries in the state, the director exhorted. Further construction of ten bedded hospital, multi-story residence building are also in pipe line.

Besides, degree courses would be launched in M Pharm, Bio-Tech, Microbiology, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Physics etc. While six-month diploma courses would be started in journalism, drama, writing, English language and Film Making from next academic session.
The boys' hostel, NRI hostel and PG hostel are under construction will be completed by December this year while learning resource center, estate building and shopping complex will be completed within one and half years.
