Writer heads awards jury
Writer De Jaware Gowda will head the panel to select a poet for the prestigious Rashtra Kavi award.
The government on Monday constituted the panel that comprises K S Nisar Ahmed, Kamala Ham Pa Na, Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Vivek Rai, Siddalinga Pattanashetty and Kannada and culture secretary I M Vittal Murthy.
Information commissioner K V R Tagore has been made convener. The panel has been set up after a group of writers appealed to CM H D Kumaraswamy to give the award to other great poets, particularly in the context of Suvarna Karnataka.
The name of senior poet G S Shivarudrappa is said to be doing the rounds.
