Woman stabs kids, hangs herself

BANGALORE: Enraged by her husband questioning her fidelity, Shashikala, 30, stabbed her two kids and then hanged herself in Nelamangala police station limits. While son Shivaprasad, 3, died, Chaitra, 6, is battling for her life.
Shashikala was married to Jagadish of Hulle Gowdanahalli for the past eight years. Jagadish had some land and he would do other odd jobs in his spare time.He would hear about his wife having illicit relationships with a couple of villagers.
Humiliated by the rumours, Jagadish used to tell Shashikala to desist from such activities. On Thursday night, Jagadish returned home and found Shashikala missing. He and two hungry children waited for a while. When Shashikala returned, Jagadish told Shashikala sternly not to venture out in the evening.
On Friday morning, while going for work, Jagadish again advised Shashikala about her behaviour. Police said Shashikala locked herself in the house. Jagadish returned around 8 pm and went out to meet someone. Soon after he left, she stabbed the children with a knife and hanged herself.
Jagadish returned around 11.30 pm and rushed them to a nearby hospital. The doctors declared mother and son dead on arrival and are treating Chaitra, who is in a critical condition.
