Woman secretly filmed in Bengaluru's Koramangala stadium restroom, faces blackmail

BENGALURU: A 32-year-old woman has alleged that she was secretly filmed while using the restroom at Koramangala Indoor Stadium during a Women's Throwball and Cricket (WTC) tournament, and is now being blackmailed by an unknown individual demanding a private video call and money.The victim, a resident of Yelahanka, filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime police on Feb 13. She told authorities that the incident on the second day of the tournament, which was held from February 6 to 8. It was during her visit to the women's restroom that the alleged filming took place.

According to the complaint, the miscreant initially reached out to her friend, mistakenly believing the Instagram account belonged to the victim. Once her friend saw the video and photos, she immediately alerted the victim. The miscreant then began threatening the victim, demanding video calls and money, and claimed he would release additional private videos. The victim is unsure whether she or her friend was the intended target, as the blackmail continued against her friend as well. He further threatened that if the ransom was not paid, the video would be circulated on other social media platforms and made public.The victim said the sharing of the video with her friend, along with the repeated demands for more content and video calls, caused significant mental distress and reputational harm. A case has been registered and probe is under way.
