The convicts are N Annapoorna and daily wage worker Ramakrishna, 38, both residents of Gokula Extension, Baddihalli.

Police arrested the two on Sept 12, 2021, on charges of murdering Narayana G, Annapoorna's husband and a private factory employee. The charge-sheet filed by Jayanagar police stated that Annapoorna poured petrol on Narayana, when he was sitting on a sofa in their home and set him ablaze. Unable to bear the burning pain, Narayana ran out and was chased by Ramakrishna. Narayana fell inside a drain and Ramakrishna dropped a big stone on his head, killing him on the spot.

Public prosecutor VA Kavita said Narayana discovered the affair of his wife and Ramakrishna, which led to frequent fights between the couple. Ramakrishna lived in the neighbourhood. Narayana and Annapoorna had three daughters. "Annapoorna and Ramakrishna hatched the murder plot. Annapoorna filled the petrol in a plastic jug, placed inside the house and executed their plot," she said.
