Woman hangs herself in Mahadevapura

A woman was found hanging at her residence in A Narayanapura near Mahadevapura on Thursday morning. Vimala, 40, had married Munikrishna 15 years ago and they had a 10-year-old son.

BANGALORE: A woman was found hanging at her residence in A Narayanapura near Mahadevapura on Thursday morning. Vimala, 40, had married Munikrishna 15 years ago and they had a 10-year-old son.
A few years ago, Vimala had stopped living with Munikrishna, a construction labourer, because they'd quarrel frequently. The couple had applied for a divorce and Vimala had been staying with Raja.
On Thursday morning, her neighbours informed the police that they hadn't seen Vimala for two days and her house was locked.

The police suspect she'd hanged herself two days ago. The police registered a case of unnatural death and said it was clearly suicide.
Boiler blast
A hotel employee was injured on Thursday morning when a steam boiler burst at a hotel in the Legislator's Home. Around 9.15 am, the device used to prepare idlis overheated and exploded. Hotel worker Ashok, 24, and a native of Hirenallur in Shimoga district, was injured when aluminium pieces from the boiler hit him. He was given treatment at a private hospital. The police said the water pipe of the boiler was blocked and that caused the accident.

Pedestrian killed
A private bus slammed into Chikkananjundaiah, 34, as he was trying to cross the road near Bhuvanahalli gate on the BIA road around 7.30 am on Thursday. He had gone to Yeshwanthpur APMC yard to sell vegetables and was going back to his village, Anneshwara near Devanahalli. He died on the spot.
Bomb hoax
Tension prevailed around 2 pm at Bishop Cotton Complex on Residency Road on Thursday when some people spotted an abandoned suitcase and triggered rumours of a bomb. Some persons called up the police control room which despatched a bomb squad and a dog squad to the spot. When the squad opened the suitcase, they found only some pieces of paper in it.
Two vehicles, one number
Kengeri RTO officials were surprised when they saw a black station wagon with a registration number given only to transport vehicles. Then, they found that two vehicles had the same registration number. Kengeri RTO Shafi Ahmed said that they are inquiring if the car was stolen or its number has been faked.
