BENGALURU: A sub-inspector has been accused of misbehaving with a woman who on April 8 walked into Suddaguntepalya police station to give a statement in connection with her friend's divorce case.
According to tweets put out by the woman on Monday, the accused SI, Manjunath, asked her to sit in his chamber and started touching her inappropriately. After taking her mobile number, the cop did not take her statement and asked her to come another day.
"Send your pictures to me on WhatsApp soon after reaching home," the SI was quoted as telling her, before touching her again. The woman said she was in trauma that entire day. "Now I am sharing my ordeal here. What am I supposed to do next?" she posted on Twitter, tagging Bengaluru city police.
Replying to her, cops asked for her mobile number. However, by Tuesday afternoon, the woman deleted the tweets. DCP (southeast) CK Baba said the woman visited his office on Tuesday evening and filed a complaint against SI Manjunath. "Action will be initiated accordingly," Baba said.
