BENGALURU: A 32-year-old woman fell to death from a sliding window she was cleaning in the corridor of her flat on the fifth floor of a BDA apartment complex near Kannamangala, east Bengaluru. Kushboo Ashish Trivedi, software engineer in a private firm, lived in 18-storey Vindhyagiri apartment complex at Doddabanahalli. Citing preliminary investigation, police said the incident happened between 4pm and 4.30pm on December 7.

Based on her father Chandrakanth Trivedi's complaint, Kadugodi police registered a case of unnatural death Saturday.

Police said Kushboo was cleaning the window and dust on the walls of the corridor. She had climbed atop a wooden shoe rack to clean the glass and kept the sliding door of the window open. She accidentally slipped and fell to the ground in the air shaft of two towers of the apartment complex. Family members rushed her to a hospital in Seegehalli where doctors declared her brought dead.

A senior police officer said Kushboo and her domestic help were cleaning the flat. She came out to clean the corridor while the maid continued working inside. Her husband and in-laws were in the flat when the incident happened.

Police were informed about the death around 8.30pm from the hospital. "Kushboo married Trivedi Ashish Harish Kumar nearly seven years ago. They didn't have children. We waited for her father Chandrakanth to come from Rajkot in Gujarat and file a complaint. He didn't make any allegation against her husband, also a software engineer, and his parents," an officer said.

"There is no CCTV camera to find out how exactly she fell from the window. But prima facie it appears she slipped and accidentally fell out of the sliding window," he added. The couple purchased the BDA flat a few years ago and got the window installed in the corridor.

Social activist Subhash S from Channasandra filed a complaint asking police to take action against the authorities concerned for not putting a safety mesh in the open space in the apartment corridor. The apartment has 18 floors in each block and 750 flats in total.
