BANGALORE: A mystery woman seems to hold the key to the Pandora's box of scams. Once traced, she could fix the missing links involving biggies in the BJP government.
The woman, Akkamma, has puzzled the Lokayukta police, who are investigating the KIADB land scam involving Katta Subramanya Naidu and son Katta Jagadish, among others.
Lokayukta sleuths have detected several transactions and properties in the name of Akkamma.
"There are a lot of properties and transactions in her name. We are also hearing a lot about her. We are investigating it,'' said a senior officer.
Is this Akkamma the one who helped chief minister B S Yeddyurappa's family in a land deal? It's not clear yet. Documents with The Times of India show that one Akkamma, a resident of Sadashivanagar, helped the CM's family buy a property at Nagavara in June 2010. Here's how she helped:
* BDA had approved a residential layout plan for 98 acres 21 guntas in various survey numbers of Nagavara for a society
* On April 4, 2009, Akkamma and others represented BDA to amalgamate an 18-metre road situated between site numbers 1 and 10. The BDA acted swiftly and on December 2, 2009, ordered for amalgamation of the road, measuring 15,400 sqft. The total area of the 18-m road amalgamated with the 10 sites was 47,972 sqft.
* Six months later, on June 18, 2010, the CM's family firm, Davalagiri Property Developers Pvt Ltd, bought 40,447 sqft (of the amalgamated land) for Rs 8 crore.
ITASKA PROMOTERS AND CM'S FAMILY
* The CM's family had a link with Itaska company promoter S V Srinivas, the business partner of Katta Subramanya Naidu and Katta Jagadish. Along with the father-son duo, Srinivas is also an accused in the KIADB scam.
* Srinivas was the GPA holder for Vinoda Nataraj, mother of Sohan Kumar (Yeddyurappa's son-in-law). He entered into an agreement with the BDA to transfer the 40x60 ft site at HSR Layout to Vinoda's name, from her brother R P Shankar.
* In 2005, opposition leader in the Karnataka assembly Yeddyurappa wrote to then CM N Dharam Singh, and got a 40x60 ft site at HSR Layout for his relative R P Shankar, under the CM's discretionary quota. Later, Shankar gifted this to his elder sister Vinoda Nataraj, for whom Srinivas becomes a GPA holder.
* The site finally goes to Sohan Kumar.
