BENGALURU: If you ever wished to witness the glory of the
Niagara Falls in Canada, look no further than India.
In just a few months,
Lalbagh
in Bengaluru will boast a mini replica of the famous
waterfall
.
Lalbagh has two algae-covered lakes, that will now be cleaned and get a makeover from the horticulture department. The department of parks and gardens has already started work on the redevelopment.
The mini Niagara Falls, designed by environmental engineer and
Lalbagh Advisory Committee
member DN Ravi Shankar, will be the first-of-its-kind in India.
The waterfall, expected to be over 15-feet high, will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 2.75 crore.
The continuous circulation of water in the falls will cause aeration that will bring down the temperature in the surrounding area considerably. This will also positively impact air quality.
The project is expected to give a major boost to tourism in the city.
