The garbage is emitting stench and giving villagers sleepless nights.
As villagers tried to block the national highway, Kolar tahsildar Shobitha called up her Hoskote counterpart and wondered if he'd issued any directive to civic authorities to dump garbage in the village quarry. The Hoskote tahsildar reportedly said no one had brought the issue to his notice.
The Hoskote city municipal council commissioner told the Kolar tahsildar that the quarry owner had permitted them to dump garbage.
Shobitha told TOI even if the quarry owner had agreed, the contractor should have obtained permission from the taluk administration. She said she noticed medical waste too being dumped there, which is punishable under law.
Shobitha instructed police to register a criminal case against the contractor and warned Hoskote civic authorities not to dump waste in the quarry.
