Bengaluru: The gusty winds seemed to play havoc with the scores, and even moved balls on greens. Only one pro — Asmitha
Sathish — braved the elements, managing a two-under 70 on the second day of the 10th leg of the Hero Women’s pro Golf Tour at the Prestige Golfshire Club on the city outskirts on Thursday.
Overnight joint leader Vidhatri Urs, undone by two lip-outs on the last two holes, still managed to hold on to her lead.
Her one-over 73 helped her take her two-day total to even-par 144.
Neha Tripathi, who had an even-par 72, was second on one-over 145.
Khushi Khanijau (75) and amateur Prakruthi Sastry were tied third a stroke further back, while another amateur, Saanvi Sonu, who finished tied second two weeks back, was in fifth place on three-over 147. Talented Keerthana
Rajeev (77) slipped down the leaderboard, while Asmitha, despite her heroics in the second round, was tied 10th on five-over 149.
Vidhatri, winner by a mile in the previous tournament, looked on course for another sub-par round. Unfortunately, she had two lip-outs on the 17th (from three feet) and 18th holes (two-footer). Despite the tough conditions, the 17-year-old Mysuru amateur hung in there to stay ahead of the field. Neha, looking to end a long drought, will be fired up to keep Vidhatri at bay.
