'Use smart materials in aircraft design'

BANGALORE: Hyderabad University vice-chancellor and former head of the LCA programme, Kota Harinarayana, on Friday urged aerospace engineers to work on incorporating “revolutionary technologies” such as smart materials, fuel cells and nano-technology in the design phase of building an aircraft.

BANGALORE: Hyderabad University vice-chancellor and former head of the LCA programme, Kota Harinarayana, on Friday urged aerospace engineers to work on incorporating “revolutionary technologies� such as smart materials, fuel cells and nano-technology in the design phase of building an aircraft.
“A mutli-disciplinary probabilistic approach is preferable to the deterministic approach that prevails today,� Kota told industry delegates here at the National Conference on Reliability and Quality Engineering in Aerospace Technologies.

In his address, K V S S Prasad Rao, chief controller, DRDO, said the increase of linkage between the quality assessment professionals and other functionaries of aerospace industry is vital for technology development.
Scientists who excelled in different areas were given awards on the occasion.
