BENGALURU: A 38-year-old software engineer and his wife allgedly died by suicide after murdering their two children in Bengaluru's upscale RMV Second Stage area on Monday morning.
Police said the deceased were identified as a five-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy, and their parents, Anup Kumar, and his wife, Rakhi, 35.
The couple hailed from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and were staying in a rented house for the last few years.
Kumar was working as a software consultant at a private firm. The police suspect that the couple took the extreme step due to financial issues.
Deputy commissioner of police (Central) Shekhar H Tekkannavar said the incident came to light when the domestic help of the couple reported to work in the morning.
The maid knocked on the door, and as there was no response, she peeped through the window and found the family dead. She alerted the neighbours and subsequently the police.
The Sadashivanagar police rushed to the house along with the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team and are collecting evidence. The couple were found hanging, while the children are suspected to have been strangled.
There was a note found in the house; our team is verifying the details mentioned in the note, a senior officer said. The police have contacted Kumar’s office and colleagues.
