Tiff over spitting: 5 held for murdering plumber in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Five men have been arrested for allegedly murdering a 25-year-old plumber, who had questioned one of them spitting on him at a bar in

on April 20. John Rakesh, who was attacked on April 20, died on April 21.

The arrested are Vineeth B, 22, Sher Singh, 37, Santosh T, 30, Anil Kumar B, 25, all residents of Chelikere near Hennur and Ashok M, 40, of

Kaval Byrasandra near RT Nagar

Police said at 1 pm, one of them spat and his

saliva

fell on Rakesh who was working at Rajeshwari Bar. “Rakesh questioned them about it, which led to a heated argument. Vineeth and a few others attacked him with beer bottles and fled,” police said.

Rakesh was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to injuries the next day. Police had registered a case of assault against the gang based on a complaint filed by Rakesh’s father and later, converted it into a case of murder.
