Bengaluru: This time, no private organizations will be able to release the II PU results on their websites. The department of pre-university education (DPUE), which is caught in a controversy over Chemistry question paper leak, has decided not to share the results to avoid goof-ups.
Last year, at least two websites published wrong results, causing panic among students and a series of protests in front of the DPUE's office in Malleshwaram.
DPUE used to share the results with four private websites in a compact disc. Around 6.5 lakh students have appeared for II PU examinations this year.
"We have been allowing private websites to release the results as there are chances of technical problems when lakhs of students check into the official website at the same time. This year, the department has received over 20 applications from private parties, but they are likely to be rejected," a source in DPUE said.
Many say it's a good decision
Welcoming the department's decision, Ravi K, a II PU student, said private organizations compete with each other to get the right as they want to help coaching centres check results for their students at the earliest. At a time when students and parents are under tremendous pressure, announcing wrong results by these private websites could create havoc, he added.
Echoing the same, Manjual M, parent of a PU student, wondered who will be held responsible if a student takes an extreme step following the announcement of wrong results.
