MYSURU/ MADIKERI: The

Kodagu school

, where

Bajrang Dal

held a weeklong training camp in the use of air guns, has denied giving permission for the camp even as police have sought legal opinion on the next course of action.

This comes amid the

SDPI

demanding action against the school management.

Days after the Hindu organisation held its 'Shourya Prashikshana Varga, 2022' at a private school in Ponnampet, the education department sought a report from the school management. "The school management has clarified that the training session did not happen on the school premises," said Kodagu DDPI Vedamoorthi.

Former BJP minister KS Eshwarappa defended the Bajrang Dal training its members in the use of air guns. "What is wrong in training our children to use guns that do not harm? There were no live bullets. Our youth should learn survival skills," he said.

The right-wing group had hosted the camp for those in the 16-35 age group. Virajpet

DySP Niranjan Raj Urs

said further action will be taken based on legal opinion.

Virajpet MLA KG Bopaiah downplayed the issue, saying no illegal activities were carried out at the session.
