'Taking NSS students on safari illegal'

MYSORE: A report submitted by the Field Director (Project tiger) Suresh has confirmed that NSS officer B.S. Ravikumar and DCF (Wildlife) Nagarahole National Park A.M. Annaiah was illegally conducting “night safaris” for the girl students attending the camp in Nagarhole National park in the first week of January.

MYSORE: A report submitted by the Field Director (Project tiger) Suresh has confirmed that NSS officer B.S. Ravikumar and DCF (Wildlife) Nagarahole National Park A.M. Annaiah was illegally conducting night safaris for the girl students attending the camp in Nagarhole National park in the first week of January. Forest law stipulates that leave alone night safaris, even the movement of people or vehicles in the national park areas itself is illegal.

Rules stipulate that officials should not permit safari or movement of vehicles in the national park area after 6.30 pm. Annaiah in his deposition before Suresh admitted to conducting night safaris.
