However, railways has cancelled existing Bengaluru-Karwar-Kannur overnight Express (16513/16514 and 16523/16524). The cancellation of these trains is likely to affect connectivity between Mysuru and Karwar. SWR has also partially cancelled 70103/70104 Pernem-Karwar DEMU train between Karwar and Madgaon.

The new train takes only about 14 hours between Bengaluru and Karwar, while existing trains took around 17 hours. Railways has also increased the number of coaches of 16511/12 Bengaluru-Kannur-Bengaluru Express and 16517/18 Bengaluru-Kannur-Bengaluru Express from existing nine to 12 so the cancellation of services may not affect Mangaluru passengers.

The chief minister also flagged off the conversion of Train no 06541/06542 Yeshwanthpur-Vijayapur-Yeshwanthpur train to LHB rake.
