BANGALORE: South Western Railway finally woke up to ensure safety, efficient running of trains and increasing passenger amenities between Bangalore and Salem in Tamil Nadu. SWR General Manager AK Mittal inspected lines, bridges, crossings and curves between Bangalore and Salem section on Wednesday to ensure safety and efficient running of trains. He inspected Omalur, Toppur, Dharmapuri, Rayakottai.

He also met R Thamarai Selvan, MP of Dharmapuri and C Krishnan, MLA of Omalur in Tamil Nadu and held discussions regarding railway works and passenger amenities in these railway stations. The political representatives presented the problems with passengers, particularly when trains don’t stop at these stations.
Due to the winter season, the trains have been running late between north and eastern India to southern states. But with the onset of the summer, track maintenance becomes an important task for the railways.
