Student alleges rape attempt at party in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 20-year-old undergraduate student from Kerala has accused a real estate broker of attempting to rape her during a late-night party near Madiwala.

The woman, who works part time at a restaurant, alleged that the incident occurred on May 11 during a gathering organised after discussions on the sale of the establishment. According to her complaint, the accused, Hainas, first behaved inappropriately with her on a staircase before trying to sexually assault her in a room after the others had briefly stepped out. She claimed her employer and his friend returned in time to rescue her.

The accused allegedly threatened those present there with a liquor bottle and later intimidated them outside the jurisdictional police station. The woman also accused police of asking inappropriate questions. However, senior cops denied the allegations and said a case has now been registered and notice served on the accused.
