Both Tamil and Kannada cine stars added glitter to the function __ Rajnikant, Kamal Haasan, Jayanthi, B Sarojadevi, Prakash Rai, Ramesh Arvind, Vanitha Vasu, among others. In fact, Karunanidhi remarked how rare it was to see Rajnikant and Kamal Hassan together in public.
Friends forever
Hundreds of DMK labour cell cadres, dressed in red and black, welcomed their friends from Karnataka.Yeddyurappa spoke in Kannada at the function, and it was translated in Tamil by Bangalore's Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan executive director Mathoor Krishnamurthy.
Gifts galore
Both CMs left the function richer with gifts. Yeddyurappa got a miniature silver Thiruvalluvar ratha; Karunanidhi received a golden citation.
Sculptors of both the statues __ Pramodini Deshpande and Mani Nagappa __ were felicitated. Karunanidhi later gave away an oil painting of Yeddyurappa.
