BELGAUM: The Karnataka State Women's Commission chairperson C Manjula urged the external affairs ministry to establish an international helpline for NRIs and extend moral and legal aid to them in critical situations.
After meeting Savita's parents here on Tuesday, Manjula said: "The government of India should take the issue to the International Court of Justice without any delay."
She said the KSCW would organize a rally in Belgaum by the month-end to protest against the apathy of Irish doctors.

It would also condemn the apathy of the Indian embassy in Ireland for failing to help Savita. There'd be a meet in Bangalore or Belgaum to discuss the problem of NRIs.
She added: "It's unfortunate the government of India hasn't taken the issue of safety and rights of Non-Resident Indians seriously. It has never discussed the issue at international platforms. There are a large number of women abroad suffering from domestic violence and cheating.''
'Sonia sent me'
Manjula Naidu, chief of the women' wing of the state Congress, also met Savita's parents and said she had come to meet them on the directions of AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and AICC women's wing president Anita Verma, who conveyed their condolence. She said the party would support the parents' demand that an independent investigation be done and abortion laws in Ireland be changed.
