Staff strike from March 21 may affect bus services

Bengaluru: The possibility of over 10,000 public transport buses going off roads looms large as employees of all four road transport corporations have called for an indefinite strike from March 21, seeking pay revision. The strike is likely to disrupt public transport services in Bengaluru and rest of Karnataka.The federation of unions of employees of four government transport unions — BMTC, KSRTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC — affiliated to AITUC on Tuesday called for an indefinite strike and served notices on the government and MDs of the corporations. Union leaders said the ball was in CM’s court, though they were yet to hear from the government. “During our failed talks with the transport minister on March 8, he told us he would discuss with the CM and call us for more talks. But nothing has been communicated to us,” said Vijay Bhaskar, the union’s general secretary. tnn
