Splendid win for Pranavi
Bengaluru: Pranavi Urs couldn’t reproduce the magic of her first two rounds but still managed to complete a splendid wire-to-wire victory in the seventh leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Prestige Golfshire on the city outskirts on Friday.
The heat seemed to have taken a toll on Pranavi as the unwell 19-year-old struggled to complete the round.

Despite being sick, the Mysuru pro shot an even-par 72 on the closing day to sign off with an impressive aggregate of 11-under 205.
Coming off a five-week injury layoff, Pranavi scored a four-shot victory over the fast-finishing local girl Asmitha Sathish (67). The latter recorded her best-ever finish as a pro, signing off with a total of seven-under 209. Amateur Vidhatri Urs (71), Pranavi’s cousin, finished tied third with Jahanvi Bakshi (72) on two-under 214.
Having started the day with an eight-shot cushion, Pranavi birdied the second and fifth holes. However, she three-putted the sixth and hit the water on the seventh for bogeys to take the turn at even-par. Unlike the first two rounds, the teenager struggled a bit with her hitting and her putter too went cold.
She did pick up a shot on the 10th, but struggled on the 12th hole, four-putting for a double bogey six. She had a double bogey on the first day there and bogeyed on the second day. The Order of Merit leader limited the damage with a birdie on the 14th and parred the rest for a 72. This was Pranavi’s third title of the season. She had annexed the first two legs.
“I really enjoyed this week and it feels nice to win again,” said Pranavi.

Action will shift to the KGA next week for the eighth leg, and Asmitha, who trains there, will hope to better her second-place finish.
Final scores (after 54 holes): 205: Pranavi Urs (67, 66, 72); 209: Asmitha Sathish (70, 72, 67); 214: Vidhatri Urs (A, 71, 72, 71), Jahanvi Bakshi (72, 69, 73); 217: Neha Tripathi (72, 74, 71); 218: Durga Nittur (76, 72, 70), Heena Kang (A, 77, 69, 72); 220: Seher Atwal (67, 73, 71); 221: Ridhima Dilawari (72, 74, 75); 222: Khushi Khanijau (75, 74, 73), Siddhi Kapoor (72, 72, 78).
