Post-results, a major cabinet reshuffle is on the cards, most probably on September 23. Though chief minister B S Yeddyurappa planned to do this on several occasions, the party stalled it for various reasons.
Riding on the success of the Kadur victory, state BJP president K S Eshwarappa confirmed that a reshuffle would happen very soon. Various permutations and combinations of caste, region and gender are being worked by the core committee to pick the candidates.
Two strong contenders -- Shobha Karandlaje and C T Ravi -- from the Vokkaliga quota have thrown their hats into the ring.
1x1 polls
Ravi is credited for Y C Vishwanath's victory in Kadur. But, the party lost where Shobha was in-charge of the campaign -- Gulbarga South, where BJP candidate Shashil Namoshi lost to the JD(S) by over 3,000 votes.
Yeddyurappa is expected to show the door to a few non-performing ministers and induct fresh faces. Ministers -- Arvind Limbavali, K Shivannagouda Naik, Anand Asnotikar, S A Ravindranath and D Sudhakar -- are in the line of fire. Besides Shobha and Ravi, S K Bellubbi, V Somanna, A Narayanaswamy and C H Vijayashankar could be inducted.
