BANGALORE: A minor scuffle between friends ended in the murder of a 25-year-old school van driver in HAL police limits.
Around 6.30am on Wednesday, Shivu of Vibhutipura was on the road to pick up students to drop them at school. As he was crossing HAL gate to enter Ramesh Nagar, the assailants stopped his vehicle and broke the windshield. Shivu jumped out of the van and tried to escape but was attacked with choppers.

He received three fatal blows __ one on the head, another on the neck and a third on the back __ and died on the spot.
Police said Shivu had recently mediated between two warring groups, and one didn't like his interference. They said neither Shivu nor the assailants have a criminal record. The cops said they know who the assailants are and will arrest them soon.
Shivu worked as a painter earlier and started the school job only three weeks ago. He had taken the van on lease for the purpose, police said.
