BANGALORE: It''s on May 17 at the Palace Grounds. Guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani will rock denizens with strings and electronica.
Satriani or Satch, as wannabe guitarists and fans shout out, is slated to perform in Bangalore after knocking it out in Mumbai on May 13 and Kolkata on the 15th. This would be Satriani''s first visit to India and he says in a press note, "India is a country of music lovers and I have always wanted to play here.
I''m waiting to meet all my fans at the concert."
One of the most technically accomplished and widely respected guitarists to emerge in recent times, Satriani''s fans include actors Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, adman Prahlad Kakkar and model Marc Robinson. Satriani is also the man who taught Metallica''s Kirk Hammett, Guns ''n'' Roses'' Slash, Steve Vai and jazz fusion player Charlie Hunter, among others.
Born in 1956, Westbury, NY, he was inspired by guitar legend Jimi Hendrix. His full-length solo album, ''Not of this Earth'' made ripples in the rock-guitar community. Some of his other hits include Surfing with the alien, Flying in a blue dream, One big rush, The extremist and Grammy-nominated Engines of creation.
