BENGALURU: Children and their parents flocked to the open streets of Sanjaynagar on Sunday to pedal away merrily on the occasion of Cycle Day, supported by The Times of India.
The Federation of RWAs, Sanjaynagar, was the community partner for the event.
With active support from neighborhood schools Akai Public, Daffodils, Sandipani and Shiksha Sagar, there was a surge in the number of families that came to enjoy cycling and outdoor activities.
"My children pulled me out of bed this Sunday morning. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a great initiative," said Srikanth, a professional.
Besides cycling on traffic-free roads, attendees were pleasantly surprised to see new games such as Alguli Mañe. Sridevi, a home-maker who'd come with her daughters, said: "I am delighted to see kids playing in a safe environment. I'll definitely volunteer to keep this event going."
Cycle Day was organized by Bengaluru Coalition of Open Streets (BCOS), a non-profit collective comprising DULT, Praja RAAG, ESAF and individuals, and supported by Bangalore police (traffic and law & order) and BBMP. "I came here last time and now again. Hope this event continues forever," said Pratham, class VI student.
